Yesterday, ABC News covered our rally, calling on the City of Detroit to make it right (check out the clip). While the nation was having important conversations about reparations for slavery, we in Detroit were making reparations happen. Our Coalition gave Mrs. Sabrina Beal a home to replace the home that Wayne County took from her when she could no longer afford her illegally inflated property tax bill, which she should not have been paying in the first place because she qualified for the Poverty Tax Exemption. We are calling on the City of Detroit to take our Dignity Restoration Housing Program to scale because there are thousands of families like Mrs. Beal who were unjustly robbed of their homes and deserving of reparations.
